The Medomak Valley Panthers will take on the Gardiner Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Medomak Valley's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Lincoln Academy 8-0. With that win, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Kristian Schumann was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Walker Simmons was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Gardiner not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 8, 2024 (when they won 12-1). They put the hurt on Leavitt with a sharp 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Greyson Greenleaf made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Greenleaf was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Gardiner let Alex Roy and Zach Reed run wild. Roy went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Reed went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Kian Alves, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Gardiner always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leavitt only posted an OBP of .391.
Gardiner's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Medomak Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Medomak Valley suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Gardiner in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
