Cedarville is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Greeneview is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Indians will welcome the Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
On Friday, Cedarville didn't have quite enough to beat West Jefferson and fell 3-2. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Roughriders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Cedarville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Lide, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Cooper Hardy also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Greeneview got the win against Fairbanks on Thursday by a conclusive 8-1. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Max Penrod and Nick Hassid made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Penrod tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Hassid didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Penrod scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Hassid scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trevor Moore, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. Chase Walker was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Cedarville's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Greeneview, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cedarville has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Greeneview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cedarville beat Greeneview 11-8 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Indians repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
