Shelley faced Hillcrest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Russets came out on top against the Knights by a score of 3-1. The victory was nothing new for the Russets as they're now sitting on three straight.
Shelley walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the fourth set). The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 21-25, 25-14.
Jaida Cook paced Shelley's offense, picking up 13 kills. Cook got some help from Mallory Higham and her 43 assists. Macie Winder controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ali Maddux, who had 19 digs and two assists. Maddux has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last seven times she's played.
Shelley's victory bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Hillcrest, their defeat ended a three-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-5.
