Softball Recap: Bishop Verot Makes It Six in a Row at Home

There's no place like home for Bishop Verot, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Fightin' Tarpons: they've now won five in a row.

Crimson Lawrence was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, McKenna Robbins was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Willa Pagnutti, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Bishop Verot hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlotte struck out nine times.

Bishop Verot pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Charlotte, they moved to 10-9 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Bishop Verot will be playing in front of their home fans against Southwest Florida Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the King's have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Charlotte, they will square off against Parrish Community at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulls will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Fightin' Tarpons surely won't give up without a fight.
