Softball Recap: Oak Lawn Extends Winning Streak to Four

Oak Lawn extended their winning streak to four on Saturday, bumping their season record up to 17-12 in the process. Everything went their way against Romeoville as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for Oak Lawn, who have now won ten matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kaitlyn Berkery made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits (and only one walk). Berkery was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Katie Casey was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Danielle Dempsey was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Oak Lawn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for Romeoville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 14 of their last 16 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. They just can't catch a break and have now endured 11 losses in a row.

On Romeoville's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kasia Brandt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Oak Lawn wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Reavis on the 19th. Romeoville has also already played their next matchup (against Joliet Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
