There's no place like home for The Alex Longhorns, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 28-26 victory over Waurika on Friday. The victory was just what Alex needed coming off of a 64-36 defeat in their prior game.
Alex's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Waurika, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alex will challenge Velma-Alma at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Velma-Alma has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 420 points over their last eight contests. As for Waurika, they will head out on the road to face off against Cyril at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Cyril is ranked 33rd, while Waurika is ranked 43rd).
