Wayne City was outmatched by Carmi-White County on the road and fell 71-37. While losing is never fun, Wayne City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 642nd, while Carmi-White County is ranked 193rd).
Despite the loss, Wayne City had strong showings from Javen Loker, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, and James Walker, who scored 13 points. Joey Greenwalt was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Wayne City's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-21. As for Carmi-White County, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne City will square off against Murphysboro at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
