The Mancos Bluejays were the 51-34 winner over the Telluride Miners when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Mancos fell to Telluride 53-49. Mancos has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Mancos lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Brian Veach. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with five rebounds. Chris Medina was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Telluride to victory, but perhaps none more so than Townes Merritt, who scored 20 points. Mancos won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Sargent at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Sargent knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Mancos likes a good challenge. As for Telluride, they will head out on the road to challenge Nucla at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
