After having lost a blowout in their previous game against New Smyrna Beach, the Pine Ridge Panthers were happy to have found some success on Monday. They strolled past Legacy Charter with points to spare, taking the game 47-31. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 29 to 12 on the offensive boards, as Pine Ridge did.
Pine Ridge got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Serenity Cressor out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Cressor is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooke Murray, who scored ten points along with nine steals.
Despite the defeat, Legacy Charter had strong showings from Ashlyn Kraus, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds, and Mckenzie Williams, who scored no points along with 11 rebounds and two steals.
Legacy Charter struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Pine Ridge's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-9. As for Legacy Charter, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pine Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Father Lopez at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Father Lopez will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive. As for Legacy Charter, they will head out on the road to square off against Forest Lake Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
