The Evans Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They came out on top against Heritage Prep by a score of 64-52. The victory was some much needed relief for Evans as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Evans' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JaKayla Slater, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. That's the first time this season that Slater scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Zaria Nelson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Evans' victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 4-15. As for Heritage Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evans and Winter Springs will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Heritage Prep, they will head out on the road to square off against Landmark Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Landmark Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
