The Webb Schools Gauls entered their tilt with the California Military Institute Rough Riders with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. The Webb Schools took down California Military Institute 36-20 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as The Webb Schools also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
The Webb Schools got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaj Grayson out in front who threw for 253 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Troy Seanoa was another key contributor, rushing for 102 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Despite the defeat, California Military Institute saw an underclassman step up: Manuel Velasquez rushed for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Velasquez is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
The Webb Schools' win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 Workman and 2-7 Nuview Bridge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 26.4% over those games). As for California Military Institute, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Webb Schools will challenge Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for California Military Institute, they will head out on the road to face off against Temecula Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
