Baseball Recap: Four Corners Wins Going Away Against Haines City

After only two runs in their last match, Four Corners made sure to put some runs up on the board against Haines City on Friday. The Four Corners Coyotes put the hurt on the Haines City Hornets with a sharp 16-4 win. The Coyotes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by seven runs or more this season.

Favor Maithe was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Maithe was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other pitching news, Jeremiah Renaldo looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Ronaldo Rivera, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mateo Torres, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Four Corners kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Haines City only managed four hits.

Four Corners' victory bumped their record up to 8-4-1. As for Haines City, their defeat was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Four Corners will challenge Ridge Community at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Four Corners' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Ridge Community's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Haines City, they will square off against Lakeland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Haines City has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
