Spring Valley has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Arbor View Aggies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Spring Valley came up short against Coronado and fell 76-68. While losing is never fun, Spring Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Coronado is ranked fifth).
Despite the loss, Spring Valley got a solid performance out of Alijah Adem, who scored 28 points along with eight assists and six rebounds. Adem has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was CJ Joshua, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Arbor View unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 65-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bishop Gorman. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arbor View in their matchups with Bishop Gorman: they've now lost five in a row.
Spring Valley bumped their record down to 3-11 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Arbor View, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-6.
Spring Valley came up short against Arbor View when the teams last played back in December of 2016, falling 81-69. Can Spring Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
