The Hollins Royals and the Lakeside Christian Lions will face off at 11:30 a.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
On Thursday, Hollins came up short against Sickles and fell 63-53.
Meanwhile, even though St. Petersburg Catholic scored an imposing 69 points on Thursday, Lakeside Christian still came out on top. Lakeside Christian strolled past St. Petersburg Catholic with points to spare, taking the game 86-69. Given Lakeside Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while St. Petersburg Catholic is ranked 634th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sherwin Simmons continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. He also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jalen Jackson, who scored 19 points.
Hollins has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-5 record this season. As for Lakeside Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Hollins came up short against Lakeside Christian when the teams last played back in February, falling 60-56. Can Hollins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
