Fieldston has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Hackley Hornets at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Fieldston will be strutting in after a win while Hackley will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Fieldston had just enough and edged Horace Mann out 12-9. The win was all the more spectacular given Fieldston's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 361st, while Horace Mann is ranked 67th).
Marcus Cooper-Leary was the offensive standout of the match as he picked up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown. Fieldston also got help from Henry Kaiden who showed off his sure hands for 86 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Hackley came up short against Riverdale Country on Saturday and fell 28-19. Hackley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Fieldston now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Hackley, their loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 3-3.
Everything went Fieldston's way against Hackley in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as Fieldston made off with a 27-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fieldston since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
