The South Hagerstown Rebels waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 65-52 win over Williamsport. This was payback for South Hagerstown, who suffered a 65-63 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jonathan Charles, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Charles pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ceonta Wilmore, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Williamsport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
South Hagerstown is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Williamsport, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
South Hagerstown's homestand continues as they prepare to take on North Hagerstown at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Williamsport, they will head out on the road to face off against Brunswick at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Brunswick has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
