The Alcoa Tornadoes will take on the Halls Red Devils in a tournament on Saturday. Alcoa will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.
Alcoa is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Tennessee's top teams: Farragut, who was ranked tenth at the time (Alcoa was ranked eighth). The Tornadoes never let the Admirals get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Wednesday. The Tornadoes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by ten runs or more this season.
Kaylea Osborne tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Alcoa let Halle Bailey and Tori Haun run wild. Bailey scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3, while Haun went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last 18 games she's played dating back to last season. Kara Pitts was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Alcoa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Farragut only posted an OBP of .118.
Meanwhile, Halls beat Powell 5-0 on Tuesday. The Red Devils haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Powell's batters probably weren't too happy with Atiana Stamper, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (she gave up four walks).
On the hitting side, Halls' win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Emery Bales, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Harper Bales, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Halls pushed their record up to 19-4-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Alcoa, their record is now 12-2-1.
Alcoa skirted past Halls 3-2 in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Will the Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
