Trumbull is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of Connecticut's top teams: New Canaan, who was ranked ninth  at the time (Trumbull was ranked tenth). The Eagles fell just short of the Rams by a score of  3-2 on Friday. That makes it the first time this season the Eagles have let down their home crowd.
 Trumbull took New Canaan into a fifth set  but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-18, 22-25, 22-25,  15-9.
Meanwhile, Ludlowe had already won 11 in a row and they went ahead and made it 12 on Friday. They were the clear victors by  a  3-0 margin over the Warriors.
 The final score came out to 25-12, 25-19,  25-9.
 Ludlowe's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Trumbull, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
