Meanwhile, Providence Day put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Raleigh Christian Academy 45-0. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked second, while the Knights are ranked 204th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Providence Day had a senior duo take command as Zaid Lott threw for 342 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80.6% of his passes and Brendan Ravin picked up 148 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Those 342 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Lott. Providence Day also got help from Ethan Dempsey, who showed off his sure hands for 98 receiving yards.
One reason for the win was Providence Day's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Justin Abanquah, Charles Ibe, and Jace Goodwin, who each picked up one sack apiece.
