The Helena Bengals will take on the Glacier Wolfpack at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Helena had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Hellgate on Wednesday. The Bengals were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Knights. With that victory, the Bengals brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Rylee Murgel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Helena let Dakota Lieberg and Heidi Ricketts run wild. Lieberg went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Ricketts went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Ricketts a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexa Lundstrom, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Helena kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Glacier came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Braves 11-4. The Wolfpack might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Ava Grady made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Grady was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Sophia Frederick and Olivia Warriner did most of the damage at the plate: Frederick went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Warriner went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Another player making a difference was Karley Allen, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Helena's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Glacier, their victory bumped their record up to 11-3.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Helena hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Glacier struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Helena suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Glacier in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Bengals have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
