The Southeastern Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Wellston 65-63. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Southeastern.
Southeastern's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lane Williams, who scored 15 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Connor Smith, who scored 17 points.
The victory got Southeastern back to even at 4-4. As for Wellston, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southeastern won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Clay at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Clay is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Wellston, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Nelsonville-York at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
