The Doherty Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Hamilton. While losing is never fun, Doherty can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 73rd in Colorado, while Hamilton is ranked eighth in Arizona).
Despite the loss, Doherty still got an impressive performance from Maddox Dee-Mortensen, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Solomon Latimer, who scored seven points.
Doherty bumped their record down to 2-4 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Hamilton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Doherty will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Valley Vista at 2:00 p.m. on December 16th. Valley Vista is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for Hamilton, they will head out on the road to face off against Mesa at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
