Western Hills is 1-6 against Sayre since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Western Hills Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Sayre Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 84-39, which was the final score in Western Hills' tilt against Great Crossing on Tuesday. Western Hills was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-22.
Meanwhile, Sayre unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 67-49 to South Laurel.
Western Hills' defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-4. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.7 points per game. As for Sayre, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-1.
Western Hills skirted past Sayre 75-72 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Western Hills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
