The Moore Haven Terriers's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the East Lee County Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on January 17th. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard on Wednesday.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Moore Haven ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Pahokee with a 55-49 win.
Moore Haven found their leader in underclassman Aaryn Askew, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Askew scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendavion Holligan, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, East Lee County beat South Fort Myers 62-50 on Thursday. That 12 points margin sets a new team best for East Lee County this season.
Moore Haven is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for East Lee County, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-6.
Moore Haven might still be hurting after the 55-32 loss they got from East Lee County when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Moore Haven avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
