After flying high against the Harmony School of Excellence Hawks last Tuesday, the Calallen Wildcats came back down to earth. Calallen fell just short of Incarnate Word Academy by a score of 41-38. Calallen has not had much luck with Incarnate Word Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Incarnate Word Academy had a senior duo take command as Lily Brown scored seven points along with three steals and three blocks and Emma Romanczyk dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. The matchup was Romanczyk's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lily Herandez, who scored five points along with eight rebounds.
Calallen's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Incarnate Word Academy, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.
Calallen and Mathis will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at. Mathis comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last five games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they will take on Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Miller will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 961st, while Incarnate Word Academy is ranked 349th).
