CARLIN, Nev. - A late missed two-point conversion cost
Virginia City (Nev.) as they fell 34-33 to
Carlin (Nev.).
The Muckers pulled ahead on a
Tialama Muipu touchdown run, and subsequently went into halftime leading 21-8. The Railroaders took the lead to win the game on a touchdown pass by
Dennis Branning to
Robert Kitts in the fourth quarter.
But 14 points in the fourth helped Carlin pull out the victory.
When the two teams played each other last season, CHS came away with a 68-20 victory.
The defeat comes as a step back for Virginia City, which notched a 52-0 victory over Eureka in its previous outing.
Carlin (2-0) goes up against Tonopah in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Virginia City (1-1) locks horns with Pahranagat Valley also in a non-conference game.
