Winter Haven got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamie Phillips jr out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Phillips jr has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Cezanne Mosley was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds.
Orlando Christian Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Theus, who scored 14 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Theus has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jemeh Jones, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Winter Haven's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. As for Orlando Christian Prep, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 12-2.
Winter Haven will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Edgewater at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Edgewater has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 958 points over their last 13 matchups. Orlando Christian Prep won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against West Orange at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. West Orange will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 312th, while Orlando Christian Prep is ranked tenth).
