Two dominant backs in Broderick Taylor and Kamauri Montgomery are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Miller Buccaneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Victoria West Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Miller had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past Vela 49-28. The win was just business as usual for Miller, who after 12 games remain undefeated this season.
Taylor continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 274 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Taylor's longest rush was for an incredible 82 yards. Another player making a difference was Corey Holmes, who picked up 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Victoria West's offense rose to the challenge against a Hawks defense that boasted an average of only 17.08 points allowed. Victoria West simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Harlingen South 56-20 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-7.
It was another big night for Camden Repper, who rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 168 yards and a touchdown while completing 78.6% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Montgomery, who rushed for 118 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry.
Miller has yet to lose a match on the road this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record. As for Victoria West, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Miller beat Victoria West 52-45 in their previous meeting back in October. Will Miller repeat their success, or does Victoria West have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
