Chilton County has gone 8-2 against Jemison recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers face off against the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Chilton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Chilton County's tournament run continued when they took on Pike Road on Friday. Chilton County was the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over Pike Road. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Chilton County let Lily Benson and Makenzie Harrison run wild. Benson scored two runs while going 1-for-2, while Harrison scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Benson also put up a double, which washer first of the season. Brianna Goggins was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Chilton County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .536. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jemison had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Verbena as Jemison made off with a 17-3 victory.
Hannah Popwell made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Popwell was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Braelyn Bradford was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Trinity Bean, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
Chilton County now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Jemison, their record is now 1-0.
Chilton County took their win against Jemison when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0. Does Chilton County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jemison turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
