The San Pasqual Golden Eagles will take on the Westview Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
San Pasqual's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over Ramona. The game was the first time the Golden Eagles have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since April 15, 2021.
Not much got past Kayleigh Carby, who gave up just a hit and racked up six Ks to keep Ramona off the board. Carby has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Avery Santos was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run and one double. Layla Hotchkiss was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
San Pasqual hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ramona struck out six times.
Meanwhile, Westview waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Warriors as they made off with a 15-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wolverines considering their two-run performance the game before.
Sierra Wallace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kiana Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reese Marier, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
San Pasqual's victory bumped their record up to 21-5. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 17-4-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. San Pasqual hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Westview struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
San Pasqual couldn't quite finish off Westview in their previous matchup on Thursday and fell 2-0. Will the Golden Eagles have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
