North Central AA recap Oct. 9, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Minneapolis, who took down 95th ranked Minneapolis, 21-17.
Southeast of Saline's Cody Smith recorded the longest rushing play in North Central AA this season in his game against Beloit last week. Smith's team lost to the Trojans as he sprinted for 80 yards on the play and finished with 84 in all.
Sacred Heart's Nick Wuthnow and Tony Chavez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wuthnow has thrown for 716 yards this season, while Chavez, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 10 catches for 310 yards. Keenan Breen from Southeast of Saline leads the league in rushing with 384 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Knights take on Mitch Gebhardt's team. At the moment, Sacred Heart is in second, while the Trojans are in fourth.
There should be lots of points scored when Bruce Graber's team and Southeast of Saline face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Knights comes in having scored 200 this season, while the Trojans have scored 170. Sacred Heart scored 60 points last week as it defeated Russell.
Beloit extended the longest winning streak in North Central AA this week by beating Southeast of Saline, 62-13. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
