The Statesville Christian Lions fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Carolina Day Wildcats on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats.
Carolina Day had a senior duo take command as Taylor Williams dropped a double-double on 25 points and 15 rebounds and Lily Everette dropped a double-double on 18 points and 22 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Everette has scored at least 25% of Carolina Day's points.
Statesville Christian's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Carolina Day, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Statesville Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Veritas Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Carolina Day will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Asheville T at 5:15 p.m. on January 9, 2024.
