Zion Prep Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Dynamic Prep likes a good challenge.
Last Friday, Mt. Zion Prep Academy faced Lanham Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mt. Zion Prep Academy fell 74-63 to Lanham Christian. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Friday (61), Mt. Zion Prep Academy still had to take the loss.
Meanwhile, Dynamic Prep came tearing into Saturday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 62-55 victory over Shabach Christian Academy. Given Dynamic Prep's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in Texas, while Shabach Christian Academy is ranked 31st in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jaden Toombs was his usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks. He hasn't dropped below two blocks for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaylen Washington, who scored two points along with nine assists and four steals.
Mt. Zion Prep Academy's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 20-4. As for Dynamic Prep, their victory bumped their record up to 14-1.
