Northwest Central recap November 5, 2013
Lehman Catholic added to the longest winning streak in Northwest Central this week by beating Upper Scioto Valley, 62-26. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Riverside lost to Fort Loramie 50-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Connor Cotterman was a bright spot for the Pirates, as he ran for 90 yards in the defeat.
Delaunte Thornton was a beast in the backfield as the Redskins beat Riverside.
Nick Rourke threw for 197 yards and 2 touchdowns. He went 9-15 with 0 interceptions.
Thornton was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 21 carries, he ran for 214 yards as Fort Loramie beat Tim McGill's team. Teammate Stephen Marsteller added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.
Lehman Catholic's Rourke and Andrew Westerheide have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Rourke has thrown for 2,356 yards this season, while Westerheide has 43 catches for 770 yards. Matt Burgbacher's team's Thornton leads the league in rushing yards with 1,817.
The top two teams in Northwest Central will face off this week when first place Lehman Catholic takes on second place Fort Loramie. Last week, Richard Roll's team bested the Rams, while the Redskins topped the Pirates.
The Cavaliers led the league in scoring this week after putting up 62 points on Upper Scioto Valley. Rourke ran for 53 yards in the win.
