The Hamilton County Foxes lost against the Carterville Lions back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Hamilton County took a 59-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carterville. Hamilton County has struggled against Carterville recently, as their matchup on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Hamilton County still got an impressive performance from Rayci Phelps, who almost dropped a double-double on 28 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 53.8% of Hamilton County's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kylah Parkhill, who scored seven points.
Amayah Doyle was her usual excellent self, scoring 37 points along with eight rebounds and three steals for Carterville. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Doyle has scored all season. Hillary Siemer was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Hamilton County's defeat dropped their record down to 13-16. As for Carterville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.
Hamilton County will be playing at home against Benton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hamilton County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday. As for Carterville, they will head out on the road to take on Christopher at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carterville is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, meaning Christopher will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
