Softball Recap: Lakota East Has No Trouble Against Princeton

Lakota East never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Princeton on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Vikings. The result was nothing new for the Thunderhawks, who have now won six matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Karli Damen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Damen was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Abrie Shulte and Amber Munoz did most of the damage at the plate: Shulte earned two runs and three stolen bases, while Munoz went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most runs Shulte has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Thompson, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Lakota East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. They are 7-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Lakota East's win bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Princeton, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakota East will challenge Middletown at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Princeton, they will face off against Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
