Basketball Recap: Sotomayor Has No Trouble Against North Hollywood

Sotomayor's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They strolled past the North Hollywood Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 73-56. For the Wolves, this counts as revenge for the 56-48 victory the Huskies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.

Jorge Penaloza continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 6-for-8 from deep and dropping a double-double on 40 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Hernandez, who went 7 of 16 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Sotomayor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

North Hollywood lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Eman Gore, who posted 16 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Agesyan, who had five points along with seven boards and six assists.

Sotomayor's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for North Hollywood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

Sotomayor didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-56 victory against Sierra Vista on the 17th. As for North Hollywood, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-58 win against Math & Science College Preparatory on the 17th.
