Mission Trail (8 Man) recap Oct. 30, 2012
Woodside Priory extended the longest winning streak in Mission Trail (8 Man) this week by beating Stuart Hall, 46-30. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Panthers.
Anzar took down Alma Heights Christian 56-24 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jeremy Cedeno threw for 86 yards and one touchdown and ran for 61 yards in the win.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Joshua Cayetano and Gabe Bautista proved tough for the Hawks to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Cayetano threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns and Bautista had 108 yards receiving. Warren Ko helped Alma Heights Christian's passing attack out by catching four balls for 49 yards.
Vince Ko made the biggest impact on defense this week as Alma Heights Christian lost to Anzar. The 6-foot-1 junior grabbed three sacks.
James McDaniel was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 175 yards as Woodside Priory lost to Luis Espinoza's team. Will Latta also contributed to the rushing game with 105 yards on the ground.
Trinity Christian's Andrew Ducusin and Dre Perez have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Ducusin has thrown for 1093 yards this season, while Perez has 39 catches for 722 yards. McDaniel from Doug Sargent's team leads the league in rushing with 1070 yards.
Trayvon Hicks of the the Knights is only 77 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. Hicks has rushed for 923 yards on 101 carries so far this year.
A big matchup in Mission Trail (8 Man) this week will be when the Panthers take on the Hawks. Woodside Priory is in first place, while Anzar is in fourth place.
The Hawks led the league in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Eagles. Cedeno in the win.
