Basketball Game Preview: Cienega Bobcats vs. Nogales Apaches

The Cienega Bobcats will take on the Nogales Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Thursday, Cienega was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-41 to Buena. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Amaya Woolford, who posted five points in addition to seven boards and six steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Guevara, who earned 14 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Nogales, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They snuck past Flowing Wells with a 42-36 victory on Friday.

Nogales' win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.8 points. As for Cienega, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Cienega was taken down by Nogales 57-20 when the teams last played last Tuesday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Nogales' Cecilia Burruel, who scored 14 points along with eight steals and five assists. Now that Cienega knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
