The BASIS - Scottsdale Bulldogs's eight-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Wednesday. They walked away with a 40-33 victory over BASIS - Mesa. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win BASIS - Scottsdale has managed all season.
BASIS - Scottsdale's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Blake Tropper, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for him. Nithish Prakash was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why BASIS - Mesa lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cayden Plese. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. Plese is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Yang, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
BASIS - Scottsdale's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-6. As for BASIS - Mesa, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. BASIS - Scottsdale will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Premier Prep- PHHoenix at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2024.
