Jupiter Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Benjamin Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Jupiter Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought match, but Jupiter Christian had to settle for a 51-48 defeat against Inlet Grove. While losing is never fun, Jupiter Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while Inlet Grove is ranked 131st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Matthew Barrett, who scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Conner Hoffman, who scored 7 points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Benjamin unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They were dealt a 82-47 loss at the hands of Saint Andrew's. Benjamin was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-28.
Their wins bumped Jupiter Christian to 2-3 and Inlet Grove to 6-0.
Jupiter Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Benjamin when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 57-51 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Benjamin's Gavin Aydelotte, who scored 22 points. Now that he won't be playing on Monday, will it be that much easier for Jupiter Christian to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
