Basha has gone 9-1 against Perry recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bears will face off against the Pumas at 3:45 p.m. Basha will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Basha is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: O'Connor, who was ranked 13th at the time (Basha was ranked tenth). The Bears came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Bears have won by exactly five runs.
Makaila Quinney was incredible, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 3-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Aniyah Jaiman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Basha was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Perry hadn't done well against Xavier College Prep recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Pumas put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 15-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Pumas needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Brynlee Brassfield was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Ellie Leicht was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Braylee Harder, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Basha's record is now 9-2-2. As for Perry, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Basha hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Basha beat Perry 5-0 in their previous matchup on Tuesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
