If the Rock Island Rocks were feeling good off their 62-42 takedown of the Davenport West Falcons last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Rock Island's rough 56-33 defeat to Quincy on Thursday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Rock Island can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Quincy is ranked 43rd).
It was another big night for Taylor Fohey, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds and five assists for Quincy. The game was Fohey's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Myley Longcor was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Rock Island bumped their record down to 7-13 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Quincy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Rock Island will look to defend their home court on Thursday against East Moline United at 7:00 p.m. As for Quincy, they will head out on the road to face off against Springfield Southeast at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Springfield Southeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
