West Central had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 24-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Winamac Warriors. Despite the loss, West Central still got an impressive performance from Drea Villarreal, who rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Villarreal really tore up the turf during one magnificent 74-yard run.
West Central wouldn't let Winamac keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. West Central can thank Felipe Bazan and Jayden Miller for forcing all of them. Bazan also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing two fumbles and making seven total tackles.
West Central will face off against Culver Community on Friday. Hopefully West Central focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Winamac, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Pioneer at 7:00 p.m. on September 6th.
