The Niwot Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Riverdale Ridge Ravens at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Niwot has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Niwot is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 11-10 heartbreaker at the hands of Skyline. The defeat was just more heartbreak for the Cougars who fell 9-7 when the teams previously met back in April of 2024.
Charlie Shaw led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Nico Castro was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Riverdale Ridge made easy work of Northglenn on Thursday and carried off a 7-1 victory. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Nick Williams was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jeter McArthur, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Riverdale Ridge's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Niwot, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Niwot hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Riverdale Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Niwot was able to grind out a solid win over Riverdale Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 6-3. Will Niwot repeat their success, or does Riverdale Ridge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
