Chaparral (Scottsdale, Ariz.) received a huge boost from its defense against Arcadia (Phoenix, Ariz.), as the unit scored 19 in defeating Arcadia (Phoenix, Ariz.), 49-0.
The lead that the Firebirds took on a touchdown run by
Elijah Castro with 10:00 to go in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.
Chaparral put up 28 points in the second quarter en route to the win. CHS scored on an Castro touchdown run, a defensive touchdown, a touchdown pass by

Israel Simpson and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
Whiley was the top performer for the Scottsdale school. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The Titans came in surrendering 17.3 points per game this season. Arcadia had a hard time against Chaparral's offense, who entered the game scoring 42.3 points per game. Coming into the game Chaparral had allowed 21.8 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding AHS well below its season average of 35.0 points scored per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Arcadia, which notched a 46-43 victory over Paradise Valley in its previous outing.
