The Lone Star Rangers will venture away from home to face off against the Reedy Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Lone Star's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Reedy's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lone Star is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Creekview just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 7-3 to the Mustangs.
Brooke Wooten made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. Serenity Smith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Meanwhile, Reedy hadn't done well against The Colony recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Reedy blew past The Colony 16-8. With that victory, the Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.
Katelyn Crosby was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Lau, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-5.
Reedy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive games.
Lone Star's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-5-1. As for Reedy, their win bumped their record up to 6-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lone Star has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Reedy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lone Star was able to grind out a solid victory over Reedy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lone Star since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
