Pullman got a massive performance out of Braden Northcroft, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave Northcroft a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Hecker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Pullman always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Clarkston made easy work of North Central on Monday and carried off a 15-4 win.
Jacob Stewart made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Tucker Green was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Clarkston's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Morgan Bunch, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Pullman's victory bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Clarkston, their win bumped their record up to 9-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Pullman has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clarkston struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Pullman couldn't quite get it done against Clarkston when the teams last played back in March as they fell 8-5. Will the Greyhounds have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
