The Walsh Jesuit Warriors were the 49-48 winner over the Louisville Leopards when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Walsh Jesuit opened the new year with a less-than-successful 56-44 defeat to Louisville. While losing is never fun, Walsh Jesuit can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while Louisville is ranked sixth).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Louisville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Hayden Nigro, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds. The contest was Nigro's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Marshall, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Walsh Jesuit's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Louisville, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.
Walsh Jesuit will head out on the road to face off against Solon at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th. As for Louisville, they will take on Woodridge at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
