Lee County is a perfect 6-0 against Coffee since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Lee County will face off against Coffee at 7:30 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Jordan Bush and Kentavius Debruce.
On Friday, Lee County ended up a good deal behind Thomas County Central and lost 35-21. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked seventh).
Bush took on on another dominant RB in the form of Christian Lawrence. Lawrence had a great game and gained 264 total yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Bush was balling out in the loss, rushing for 105 yards and one score, while also throwing for 197 yards and one touchdown.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Coffee, as they earned their first away win of the season. They put the hurt on Northside with a sharp 28-7 victory on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won three in a row.
Lee County better keep an eye on Bobby Reynolds. He was instrumental in Coffee's win, rushing for 165 yards and one TD while picking up 7.2 yards per carry. Those 165 rushing yards gave Reynolds a new career-high. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Tresean Smith, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Coffee was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 266 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The victory got Coffee back to even at 3-3. As for Lee County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Lee County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Coffee struggles in that department as they've been averaging 178.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Lee County against Coffee when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lee County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
